Kathmandu: Taxi drivers staged a protest by parking their taxis in the middle of the road at Jadibuti, Kathmandu, creating a significant traffic disruption. The protest left the surrounding areas chaotic, as the drivers blocked the streets to voice their demands.
The protesters are calling for a ban on ride-sharing services and prohibiting red-plate vehicles from carrying passengers. The protest, led by businessman Durga Prasai, saw drivers obstructing the road on Friday.
According to SSP Binod Ghimire, spokesperson for the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, the road was temporarily blocked due to the protest, but the police have now cleared the taxis, and traffic has resumed.
