Kathmandu – The National Planning Commission has set the wheels in motion for the formulation of the 16th plan, with a focus on addressing regional needs and priorities. To facilitate comprehensive discussions and planning on a provincial level, the Commission has formed dedicated teams that are currently engaged in deliberations across all seven provinces.
The discussions commenced with a particular emphasis on Madhesh Province today, wherein representatives from the local level and the private sector actively participate in the sessions held in Janakpur.
Yamlal Bhusal, the spokesperson of the National Planning Commission, revealed that each province is being led by a specific team comprising members of the commission. However, due to a natural calamity, discussions in the Karnali province have been temporarily postponed. In the remaining provinces, the Commission’s teams are actively engaged in the dialogue process.
The schedule for discussions includes sessions in Hetauda of Bagmati Province, Janakpur of Madhesh Province, and Dhangadhi of Sudurpaschim Province, taking place on November 20 and 21. The commission’s members, Dr. Prabhu Budhathoki, Dr. Jayakant Raut, Dr. Ramkumar Phuyal, and Dr. Anita Shah Dhungana, are leading these discussions.
Earlier, on October 23 and 24, discussions were held in Biratnagar of Koshi Province and Butwal of Lumbini Province. These sessions were headed by commission members RP Viccha and Dr. Rameshchandra Paudel, with a focus on addressing the unique needs and perspectives of these regions.
The National Planning Commission has affirmed its commitment to developing the 16th five-year plan by gathering inputs and suggestions from state governments, local authorities, and the private sector.
