Kathmandu: In a recent board meeting, Dilip Kumar Dhungana was unanimously elected as the new Chairman of Rastriya Banijya Bank Limited (RBB). Dhungana, who holds a master’s degree in management, officially assumed office after a swearing-in ceremony attended by Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari. During the ceremony, Adhikari emphasized the importance of institutional governance, risk management, and customer-oriented business growth for the bank.
Expressing his commitment to the bank’s interests, Dhungana, with a wealth of experience in the banking sector, pledged to work diligently in his new role. The bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Kiran Kumar Shrestha, provided insights into the current state of the bank.
Noteworthy is the bank’s responsible approach towards societal impact, as it recently invested in housing loans in Jajarkot, focusing on earthquake-affected areas. Despite being permitted a two percent premium on the base rate for housing loans, the bank is charging only one percent, showcasing its dedication to social responsibility.
