Four Ruling Parties Finalize National Assembly Seat Distribution for Elections

Kathmandu: In development, the four ruling parties have reached consensus on the distribution of seats for the upcoming National Assembly elections. The decision was formalized during a morning meeting, where the parties agreed on a proportional allocation of seats.

According to the finalized distribution, the Nepali Congress is set to receive 10 seats, while the Maoist Center will be allocated 6 seats. The United Samajwadi Party is slated to receive two seats, and Jaspa has been allotted one seat. Notably, the remaining three parties within the alliance will not be allocated any seats, as they have opted to rely on public opinion, civil emancipation, and the public front for representation, each claiming one seat.

Simultaneously, a meeting of the Central Performance Committee of the Nepali Congress has been scheduled to determine the candidates for the National Assembly elections. Originally planned for today, the meeting was postponed due to the ruling coalition’s deliberations. The discussion in the meeting will revolve around the selection of candidates, with the Shekhar Koirala group of the Congress advocating for their side to secure four seats.

The Maoist Center has also called for a functionary meeting to address the selection of candidates for the National Assembly, underscoring the meticulous approach each party is taking in shaping its representation for the upcoming elections. As the political landscape evolves, these strategic decisions mark a pivotal moment in the path towards the National Assembly elections.
