Kathmandu: Jerry Buttimer, the Cathaoirleach of Seanad Éireann, the Upper House of the Oireachtas, the Parliament of the Commonwealth of Ireland, arrived in Nepal leading a 5-member delegation. The visit, at the invitation of Chairman of the Federal Parliament, National Assembly Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, includes various bilateral engagements during their stay from 23 to 27 Poush.
The delegation’s schedule comprises meetings with the Speaker of the Federal Parliament, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the Speaker of the National Assembly. Additionally, there are plans for a courtesy meeting with the President and the Prime Minister.
Furthermore, the delegation is set to discuss matters with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Education, Science, and Technology. An interaction with the Nepal-Ireland Parliamentary Friendship Group is also on the agenda.
This marks the third high-level engagement between the Federal Parliament of Nepal and the Parliament of Ireland. Strengthening parliamentary practices through delegation-level meetings is expected to fortify bilateral relations, fostering enduring and robust ties.
