Security Personnel Families Pledge Non-Obstruction to TRC Bill in Meeting with Prime Minister Prachanda

Kathmandu: Families of security personnel who lost their lives during the armed conflict have conveyed their commitment not to obstruct the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Bill currently awaiting approval in Parliament.

In a meeting with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda,” the families expressed their desire for the TRC Bill to address potential demands of those affected by the conflict, emphasizing their stance as non-obstructive.

Rita Karki, the senior vice-president of the families of conflict-affected security personnel, voiced confidence that the government, under Prime Minister Prachanda’s leadership, would address all demands of conflict victims. Karki asserted that Prachanda, having experienced the pain and sorrow of war, possesses an understanding of the needs of those affected.

Prime Minister Prachanda assured the families that the government has maintained equal treatment for families of individuals killed by both the government and insurgents during the armed conflict. He emphasized a commitment to nondiscrimination in the future, fostering an atmosphere conducive to reconciliation and addressing the concerns of those affected by the conflict.
