Healthy Citizens Essential for Economic Transformation: Prime Minister

Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has emphasized that development and prosperity are only possible with a healthy citizenry, stating that ailing citizens hinder progress.

Addressing the 12th conference at Patan Institute of Health Sciences, Prime Minister Prachanda highlighted the need for high-quality healthcare services accessible to all Nepali citizens. He stated, “Economic and social transformation of the country is achievable through healthy and disease-free citizens.”

Acknowledging the institution’s commendable efforts in community-based service delivery, Prime Minister Prachanda directed the organization to further strengthen and expand programs, integrating them with similar initiatives from other institutions. He affirmed, “Similar programs from various institutions and educational bodies will also be encouraged to enhance the focus of the Ministry of Health and Population.”

In the face of daily challenges in the health sector, Prime Minister Prachanda stressed the importance of effective management of future health challenges. He urged the institution to develop advanced infrastructure and improve hospital services to make them more efficient and impactful.

Highlighting the predominance of rural areas in Nepal, the Prime Minister expressed the need to establish a systematic healthcare framework in rural regions. Inspired by a sense of social responsibility, he encouraged skilled health professionals, including doctors, motivated by a commitment to social welfare, to produce and extend healthcare services to rural areas.

In conclusion, Prime Minister Prachanda underscored the significance of bridging the gap in quality healthcare services, especially for citizens with limited access. He asserted, “Guided by the Human Development Index, we aim to elevate the well-being of citizens with limited access to quality healthcare, ensuring improvements in our services.”
