Kathmandu: The latest weather forecast predicts rainfall in the northern half of the country, with the possibility of snowfall in higher elevations on Wednesday and Thursday. The Meteorological Department has issued a special bulletin, indicating that a western disturbance, accompanied by a western low-pressure system, is likely to bring rainfall to western Nepal on Wednesday.
Starting Wednesday afternoon, clouds are expected to form gradually over the Far Western, Karnali, Lumbini, and Gandaki provinces. The forecast suggests a sequential occurrence of rainfall and snowfall in the region, starting from the late afternoon, moving from the Far Western region towards the Eastern region.
According to the meteorological report, there is a possibility of rainfall in certain hilly areas of the Bagmati and Koshi provinces as well. The precipitation is expected to be light to moderate.
Moreover, starting from Wednesday, there is also a likelihood of snowfall in higher elevations of Sudurpashchim, Karnali, and Gandaki provinces. The report mentions that significant snowfall may occur in the upper hilly and Himalayan regions of these provinces.
The forecast further anticipates that due to the combination of rain and snowfall, temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday might drop, leading to a possible decrease in overall temperatures.
Improvement in weather conditions is expected to commence from Friday, primarily in the Sudurpashchim province.
Residents and authorities are advised to stay updated on the evolving weather conditions, especially those in higher altitude areas where snowfall is anticipated. The Meteorological Department will continue to monitor and provide updates on any changes in the weather pattern.
