Ministry Disappointed with Incomplete Essential Tasks in Operation of Underground Parking of Dharahara

Kathmandu: In a turn of events, the Ministry of Urban Development has expressed disappointment over the operation of the underground parking in Dharahara without the completion of essential tasks. Initiated by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City in collaboration with GIETC-RAMAN J/V, the ongoing construction has encountered setbacks, raising serious concerns for both safety and functionality.

Despite concerted efforts to provide free parking facilities to the public, the Ministry has noted the operation of the parking facility without finishing critical tasks such as the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system, Firefighting system, Electrical and Extra Low Voltage (ELV) works, Public Addressing system, CCTV system, and Electrical panel installations. This incomplete state poses potential risks, including the threat of suffocation and other safety hazards.

Moreover, unauthorized entries by pedestrians and vehicles into the construction site have heightened security concerns. The Ministry urges all stakeholders, especially GIETC-RAMAN J/V, to prioritize the completion of these pending tasks, addressing challenges related to material breakage and structures already built.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs, the Ministry highlights the need for a collaborative effort to swiftly address the outstanding issues. The Ministry emphasizes the importance of adhering to safety protocols and timely project completion to ensure the public’s safety and satisfaction.

This disappointment signals a call to action for all involved parties to rectify the situation promptly, recognizing the gravity of the concerns raised by the Ministry.
