Kathmandu: Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat has highlighted the importance of evaluating results based on performance rather than just stating responsibilities. After inspecting the offices of Bhansar and Internal Revenue in Krishnanagar on Tuesday, Minister Mahat directed the staff to demand justified results rather than immediate addressal by the government. He stated, “We assess the reality of business through discipline, transparency, and continuous evaluation. If we pay attention to changing business dynamics, internal revenue can approach its target.”
Minister Mahat urged to keep track of the continuous changes in the nature of businesses. He emphasized, “What was applicable yesterday may not be relevant today.
Therefore, analyzing what businesses are occurring and how they are developing will contribute to the growth of internal revenue.”
Referring to the interconnected relationship between internal revenue and Bhansar, he mentioned, “If certain items are exempted legally or if something does not come under the revenue, monitoring business activities becomes easier from the revenue perspective.” With the availability of road connectivity, substantial investment is required for immediate construction of complete infrastructure in a new location, clarifying that new construction is not currently feasible, as stated by Minister Mahat.
Minister Mahat directed the newly appointed staff to focus on discipline and transparency. Reminding them of the tradition of joining or not joining the tax system, he emphasized, “New businesses need to be integrated into the tax system.”
