Kathmandu: The government has officially opened the competitive bidding process for the first hunting season of the fiscal year 2081/82 (2024/25) in the Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve. This marks a significant event as professional hunting organizations are invited to bid for permits to hunt Naur (Himalayan Blue Sheep) and Jharal (Himalayan Tahr) within designated blocks of the reserve.
The bidding process is being conducted under the framework of the National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act, 2029, and the National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Regulations, 2030. The Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation, which oversees the reserve, has emphasized that only authorized organizations can participate in this competition, ensuring that the hunting is regulated and sustainable.
Interested organizations must purchase the sealed tender documents from the department’s Economic Administration Branch by paying the required fee, as stipulated by law. Further details regarding the tender process can be found on the department’s notice board or by visiting their official website at www.dnpwc.gov.np.
This announcement underscores the government’s approach to balancing wildlife conservation with controlled hunting, a practice that has both economic and ecological implications for the region.
