President Paudel Presents Guinness World Records Certificates to Surendra Rai and Susan Tamang

Kathmandu:

President Ramchandra Paudel has presented Guinness World Records certificates to Surendra Rai and Susan Tamang at the President’s Office, Sheetal Niwas. Surendra and Susan have achieved a milestone by entering the Guinness Book of World Records for performing the highest altitude dance choreography in the world.

On May 19, 2024 (Jestha 6, Nepali calendar), they successfully completed their record-setting attempt at Kala Patthar in Solukhumbu, at an altitude of 5,441 meters (17,851 feet). Their dance performance, set to the song “Man Magan,” lasted for two and a half minutes. This record aims to promote Nepal internationally and boost tourism.

Surendra and Susan stated, “We undertook this record-setting effort to contribute to the preservation of the Himalayan region, biodiversity, and the promotion of Nepal’s tourism.”

During this endeavor, Surendra and Susan received support from various artists and a photography and videography team. Photography was assisted by Saugat Karki, while Sonam KC and Umesh Sapkota contributed to the videography.

The record-setting event was conducted with the approval of Sagarmatha National Park, Nepal Tourism Board, and Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality, under the guidance of Chitrakumar Karki, the Nepal representative for Guinness World Records.

This effort, contributing to the promotion of Nepal’s cultural heritage and tourism, has elevated the country’s prestige to new heights on the global stage.
