Demand for NPR 1 Million Per Family Relief Package for Flood Victims

Kathmandu: The South Asia Organization Committee of the CPN (Maoist Centre) has urged the government to provide a relief package of NPR 1 million per family affected by the recent floods and landslides. In a statement issued on Wednesday, committee in-charge Laxman Pant criticized the government for negligence in rescue and relief efforts, pointing out that the Prime Minister was abroad during the national crisis.

Pant further called for immediate arrangements for temporary housing for those who have been displaced. The committee also demanded that rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts for flood victims be carried out on a war footing.

In addition, the committee emphasized the need for immediate repairs to damaged roads, bridges, and other physical infrastructure, as well as the restoration of transportation services.

Similarly, the Nepalese Unity Forum of All India, which is affiliated with the Maoist Centre, also pressed the government to provide a minimum relief package of NPR 1 million for each affected family.
