Kathmandu: The Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) has decided to take over the management of the Dharamshala located in the Pashupati area. This comes after long-standing accusations that the Marwari Sewa Samiti Nepal had been operating the facility unilaterally and exploiting it for profit by leasing it at a low cost.
The decision was made during a meeting of the PADT Board of Directors, chaired by Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Pandey, on Sunday. The board directed that the management be handled by the PADT itself, with the option to coordinate with other relevant agencies as needed.
Kathmandu Metropolitan Mayor, Balendra Shah, who is also a member of the board, was present at the meeting. The decision granted PADT full authority over the management of the Dharamshala, allowing it to collaborate with other institutions if necessary.
The decision follows a recent ruling by the Kathmandu District Court on October 2, which rejected the Marwari Sewa Samiti’s claim to annul its previous contract with PADT. In light of this, the PADT Board took the necessary steps to assume control over the facility’s management.
