No Appeal in Supreme Court Against Sandeep Lamichhane’s Case

Kathmandu: The case of cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane, who was accused of rape, will not be appealed in the Supreme Court. The Office of the Attorney General has decided not to appeal, expressing satisfaction with the verdict delivered by the High Court. The High Court had previously acquitted Lamichhane.

According to Surya Raj Dahal, spokesperson for the Office of the Attorney General, the decision was made based on the reasoning provided in the High Court’s verdict and a request submitted by the alleged victim. “The High Court’s decision was based on factors such as the victim being of legal age, both parties having gone to the hotel together and left together. Furthermore, the victim herself requested that no further action be pursued, so we have decided not to appeal,” said Dahal.

The victim had submitted an application to the Special Public Prosecutor’s Office, requesting that no appeal be made to the Supreme Court. The High Court had acquitted Lamichhane on May 15th, while the District Court had previously found him guilty.
