Kathmandu: Nepal secured the T20 series with a thrilling win over hosts USA in the second T20 International, played on Sunday morning in Dallas. With one match still remaining, Nepal now leads the three-match series 2–0. The final game will take place on Monday.
The match ended dramatically as both teams scored 170 runs in their allotted 20 overs, pushing the game into a Super Over. Nepal needed just three runs to win the Super Over after Sompal Kami’s brilliant bowling performance, where he claimed two consecutive wickets. Captain Rohit Kumar Paudel scored two runs, and Kushal Bhurtel added one, sealing Nepal’s victory.
Earlier, Nepal set a target of 171 runs, losing six wickets in the process. In response, the USA also posted 170/7, leading to a tied match.
Andries Gous was the top scorer for the USA, hitting 62 off 43 balls, including three fours and four sixes. Opener Suyash Prabhudessai contributed 47 runs. Nepal’s Karan KC took three wickets, while Sompal Kami grabbed two.
For Nepal, Kushal Bhurtel was the standout performer, smashing 92 runs off 54 balls with seven fours and six sixes. Opener Anil Kumar Shah made 25, Gulshan Jha contributed 17, and captain Rohit Kumar Paudel added 18 runs.
