Dahal Accuses Government of Focusing Only on Protecting Corrupt Individuals in First 100 Days

Kathmandu: Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre), has criticized the government for being solely focused on safeguarding corrupt individuals during its first 100 days in office.

Speaking this morning during a meeting with officials from the Nepal Intellectuals’ Organization, which is affiliated with his party, Dahal expressed his dissatisfaction with the government’s actions so far.

“The government has completed 100 days, and it has only confirmed the concerns we raised at the time of its formation,” he remarked. “It’s not just the opposition parties, but civil society leaders and even members of the ruling coalition who have expressed discontent. This clearly shows that the government has failed to deliver on what it should have done and has instead focused on things it should not have.”

Dahal pointed to recent incidents to support his claims, such as attempts to remove the Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority for trying to recover unpaid dues from industries, and efforts to dismiss the Deputy Speaker over minor procedural errors.

He further criticized the ruling party, led by the prime minister himself, for accepting land donations from a controversial businessman, arguing that such actions demonstrate the government’s alignment with corrupt interests.

He also mentioned that five opposition parties have already submitted a memorandum to the government, urging it to change course and focus on essential governance matters. Dahal added that they would soon meet the President to draw attention to the government’s activities.

To pressure the government to correct its course, he announced that his party plans to launch protests. A warning rally is scheduled in Kathmandu on October 27, organized by the Bagmati, Special, and Coordination Provincial Committees of the party.

Dahal concluded by highlighting the growing public support for his party and urged the Intellectuals’ Organization to strengthen its role in the evolving political environment.
