Kathmandu: Rajiv Gurung, commonly known as Deepak Manange, a member of the Gandaki Provincial Assembly, has been arrested in connection with an attempted murder conviction. The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) apprehended him in Kathmandu on Tuesday while he was in hiding.
The Supreme Court had convicted him on November 5, sentencing him to five years in prison. Following the verdict, Manange went underground. The conviction was related to an incident from 2004 in which he was found guilty of assaulting and cutting the hand of another gang leader, Milan Gurung, known as Chakre Milan.
Police have stated that Manange will be presented in court for the enforcement of the sentence.
