Biratnagar, November 13, 2024 – The Morang Industry Association has emerged as the best local chamber in the Asia-Pacific region, surpassing 81 local industrial and business chambers from more than 27 countries to win the CACCI Award for “Local Chamber, Big Category.” The award, which includes a cash prize of USD 2,000, was presented at the closing ceremony of the Economic Forum and the 38th CACCI Conference, held on November 11 and 12 in Singapore.
The award was handed to the association’s president, Rakesh Sura, recognizing its significant contributions to local economic development, policy advocacy, and support for industrial activities, as well as its overall role in economic and industrial growth. The event was jointly organized by the Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) and the Singapore Manufacturing Association.
A total of 81 business organizations from 27 CACCI member countries competed for the award. Morang Industry Association stood out based on its documented activities and initiatives aimed at industrial promotion.
President Sura expressed his joy over winning the international award and attributed this achievement to the collective efforts of the executive committee, member industries, the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and well-wishers. He also extended his gratitude to all involved and invited attendees of the CACCI Conference to participate in the Koshi Province Investment Summit and Birat Expo 2025, scheduled for January 24-26, 2025, in Biratnagar.
The delegation, led by President Sura, departed for Singapore on November 10, comprising former president Suyash Pyakurel, senior vice-president Nand Kishore Rathi, vice-presidents Rajkumar Golchha, Bholehswor Dulal, and members of the executive committee, including Surendra Golchha, Paras Lunia, Jayendra Sharma, Siddhartha Kabra, Sirjan Pyakurel, Birendra Rathi, Santosh Kumar Bhagat, and Director General Chudamani Bhattarai.
