Kathmandu, November 13, 2024 – General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army, is scheduled to arrive in Nepal for an official five-day visit from November 20 to 24, 2024. This visit comes at the invitation of General Ashok Raj Sigdel, Chief of the Army Staff of the Nepali Army.
During his stay, General Dwivedi will pay homage at the martyrs’ memorial located at the Army Pavilion and will be welcomed with a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the Army Headquarters. He is also set to engage in an official meeting with General Sigdel to discuss military cooperation and other mutual interests. Additionally, General Dwivedi will interact with student officers at the Army Command and Staff College in Shivapuri and visit the Western Divisional Headquarters in Pokhara.
A significant event of the visit will be the conferment of the honorary rank of General of the Nepali Army upon General Dwivedi by the Rt. Honorable President of Nepal, symbolizing the deep-rooted military relationship between the two neighboring countries. Further, General Dwivedi will hold meetings with the Rt. Honorable Prime Minister and the Honorable Defense Minister, reinforcing the strong diplomatic and defense ties shared by Nepal and India.
The visit is expected to bolster the historical and strategic partnership between the two armies and countries at large.
