Kathmandu: Ram Prasad Ghimire has been appointed as the Secretary of the Water and Energy Commission Secretariat (WECS).

The decision was made during a Cabinet meeting held on Sunday evening. Ghimire, recently promoted as a technical secretary, has taken over the position following the transfer of former Secretary Gopal Sigdel to the Ministry of Urban Development.

Ghimire assumed office on Monday after receiving a warm welcome from the WECS staff. Prior to this appointment, he served as the Director General of the Department of Mines and Geology.

His extensive experience and technical expertise are expected to play a crucial role in advancing the commission’s objectives in the water and energy sector.
