Darchula, Dec 19: An earthquake struck Darchula district on Tuesday night. According to the National Seismological Centre, the tremor, with a magnitude of 4.0, occurred at 9:25 PM, with its epicenter in Api Himal Rural Municipality. Details of the damage caused by the earthquake are yet to be reported.
This follows a recent earthquake on Saturday in Bajura district, where a 5.2 magnitude tremor struck Jagannath Rural Municipality-5, Gotri, causing significant damage. According to the Provincial Emergency Operation Center under the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law, Sudurpaschim Province, a total of 684 structures, both private and government-owned, were damaged in Bajura.
Of the total, 655 government buildings and 29 private structures were reported to have been completely destroyed, highlighting the need for immediate relief and reconstruction efforts.
