Kathmandu: In the National Assembly member election, voting has concluded with a remarkable 99.32% voter turnout. The voting process commenced at 9 AM in 14 polling centers across all seven provinces, and results are expected to be announced by 3 PM.
As per the Election Commission, the election witnessed an impressive 99.32% voter participation. The spokesperson for the commission, Shaligram Sharma Poudel, informed that results from all regions would be available by 8 PM once the counting concludes peacefully.
According to Poudel, vote counting has commenced in Janakpur of Province 2, and similar all-party meetings have been initiated in other provinces. Within the next hour, the counting process is expected to begin in all provinces.
Today’s election is crucial for the 19 seats in the National Assembly. On the 20th of Falgun, the tenure of 20 individuals, including the National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Timilsina, will be decided. If 19 individuals are elected, the remaining seat will be nominated by the President.
Eight parties are in competition for the 51 seats among the 19 candidates, adding an intense dimension to the electoral landscape.
