Kathmandu: The Western low-pressure system has become active, and on Sunday, rainfall and snowfall are anticipated in the region. Changes are expected nationwide on Sunday. The Meteorological Forecasting Division has issued a special bulletin forecasting precipitation in Sudurpashchim, Karnali, Gandaki, and Lumbini. “Rain is likely in Bagmati and Koshi areas; however, this time, significant rainfall is expected in the western regions,” explained meteorologist Govind Jha to the newsmen. Although there might be rainfall in Lumbini and the Tarai region, the possibility of precipitation is low in the Madhes and Koshi areas. Conversely, there is a high chance of heavy rainfall in the Kathmandu Valley.
On Sunday, higher mountainous and Himalayan regions in Sudurpashchim, Karnali, and Gandaki will experience snowfall, while there is a possibility of snowfall in some places of Bagmati and Koshi.
Due to moisture-laden westerly winds, a light breeze has been blowing since Saturday evening. This system is expected to weaken from Monday, as indicated by the analysis made by meteorologists.
Previously, the westerly winds that entered last Wednesday had caused rainfall and snowfall in western Nepal on Thursday. However, it had weakened when it reached central and eastern Nepal. According to meteorologist Jhaka, even now, the westerly winds are not very strong. Although they may have an impact in the west, there is little likelihood of significant influence in eastern Nepal.
