Kathmandu: Nepal’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Dig Bahadur Limbu, engaged in discussions with India’s Minister of Information and Broadcasting, as well as Youth and Sports Minister, Anurag Thakur. The meeting, held at Thakur’s office in Delhi, focused on strengthening cooperation, particularly regarding the upcoming BIMSTEC Aquatic Championship (Competition) in 2024. The championship is scheduled to take place in New Delhi from Wednesday to Friday, and Nepal plans to actively participate.
The announcement of the competition’s commencement was made on Tuesday, and Indian Sports Minister Thakur declared that discussions revolved around expanding cooperation in sports and youth activities. He also expressed optimism about the increased opportunities for collaborative partnerships among the two nations. Thakur shared details on Twitter, mentioning the initiation of the BIMSTEC Sports Commission, aiming to boost sports in the region. Nepal, too, has expressed keen interest in actively participating in the first international sports commission under BIMSTEC. Thakur highlighted the plans to elevate sports competitions in East Asia through this initiative.
