Kathmandu: The Nepali team emerged victorious in a multicultural football tournament held in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. The tournament saw participation from six teams representing Bhutan, Nigeria, Nepal, and Vietnam.
Three teams represented Bhutan, including the Takin team, the Bhutanese Community Association of Southern Tasmania (BCAST), and the Australian Bhutanese Society of Northern Tasmania (ABSNT). Nigeria was represented by the “Imole” team, while the “Nepalese Football Club of Tasmania” (NFCT) represented Nepal, and the “Golden Dragon FC” represented Vietnam.
According to Subash Khatri, the secretary of NFCT, the Nepali team claimed victory in the tournament. The six participating teams were divided into two groups, with NFCT winning Group ‘A’ and the Bhutanese team “BCAST” winning Group ‘B’ to advance to the final.
In the final match, the Nepali team secured a 1-0 victory, clinching the title. The winning team, NFCT, was awarded a cash prize of AUD 2,500 along with a trophy, while the runner-up, the Bhutanese team “BCAST,” received AUD 1,000 and a trophy.
