Kathmandu: The Jyanu-Basant Raj Mishra Foundation, established with a firm commitment to purposeful interventions in Nepal’s development and societal progress, has been launched. The foundation, spearheaded by Basant Raj Mishra, a prominent figure in Nepal’s tourism industry for over four decades and the driving force behind the Temple Tiger Group of Companies, will continue its legacy of corporate social responsibility through expanded social services.
The foundation has introduced three annual awards to recognize individuals and organizations that have made significant positive contributions in various fields. Each award will carry a cash prize of NPR 300,000. The awards are:
- Lokraj Mishra Environmental Conservation Award
- Durgadevi Mishra Education Award
- Jyanu-Basant Raj Mishra Journalism Award
The first of these awards will be presented on September 13, 2024, during a special ceremony attended by Honorable Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development, Prakash Man Singh.
The Jyanu-Basant Raj Mishra Foundation is a non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit social organization established on December 10, 2021. Based in Lalitpur, the foundation was co-founded by Basant Raj Mishra and Jyanu Mishra. Basant Raj Mishra serves as the founding chairperson, with former Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha as the special advisor. Other trustees include Manadevi Bhandari, Captain Rameshwar Thapa, architect Arun Pant, journalist Prateek Pradhan, Dr. Madhu Acharya, Piyush Mishra, Brajesh Mishra, and Rita J. Pradhan. Rajendra Kumar Maharjan is the secretary of the foundation.
