Kathmandu: The rotation of Nepali peacekeepers deployed in South Sudan under the United Nations peacekeeping mission has been successfully completed. On September 4, 2024, a contingent of 175 peacekeepers from the 14th Battalion of the Shreenath Battalion (Peacekeepers), led by Major Suresh Devkota, departed for South Sudan. The contingent left for their mission aboard a United Nations chartered aircraft.
Earlier, on September 3, 2024, 173 peacekeepers from the 13th Battalion of the Taradal Battalion (Peacekeepers), led by Major Kumar Gurung, returned to Nepal after successfully completing their mission in South Sudan.
This rotation ensures the continued presence and contribution of Nepali peacekeepers in the ongoing efforts to establish lasting peace in South Sudan.
