Kathmandu: The Millennium Challenge Account Nepal (MCA-Nepal), a government agency formed to manage a USD 697 million infrastructure program, has announced an outreach event for the upcoming procurement of the 297 km, 400 kV Electricity Transmission Line. This project is part of the Electricity Transmission Project (ETP), a national pride initiative aimed at increasing electricity reliability and facilitating regional power trade.
The infrastructure program is co-funded by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), which has contributed USD 500 million, while the Government of Nepal has added USD 197 million. The ETP, along with the Road Maintenance Project, seeks to spur investments and accelerate economic growth by enhancing power supply and maintaining road quality.
The outreach event will take place on 30 September 2024 in Kathmandu. This event will provide contractors and firms with essential updates on technical and procurement details for the construction of this crucial transmission line.
