Kathmandu: Dev Kumar Nepali, the Mayor of Dhorpatan Municipality in Baglung, who had been on the run in connection with a cooperative fraud case, has been arrested and brought to Kathmandu by police. Alongside Mayor Nepali, Om Bahadur Darji, also involved in the same fraud case, was apprehended, according to the police.
Both individuals were taken into custody at Tribhuvan International Airport, informed Superintendent of Police (SP) Hobindra Bogati from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB). They face charges of fraud amounting to NPR 1.38 billion. The CIB confirmed that both individuals have been transferred to the District Police Office in Baglung for further proceedings.
Additionally, the police indicated that they would be investigating their involvement in the Surya Darshan Cooperative fraud case as well.
