Karnali’s New Identity is Now Cricket: MP Sobita Gautam

Kathmandu: Member of the House of Representatives, Sobita Gautam, has stated that cricket has now been added to the identity of Karnali.

Gautam mentioned that the upcoming Nepal Premier League (NPL), which is set to be held for the first time, has added a new chapter to Nepalese cricket, and Karnali Yaks has further enriched Karnali’s identity. “The Nepal Premier League is adding a new chapter to the history of Nepalese cricket. A heartfelt thank you and congratulations to the Cricket Association of Nepal for this beginning,” she said.

Gautam, a National Independent Party (RSP) MP elected from Kathmandu Constituency-2, wrote on social media, “Along with the unparalleled natural beauty, culture, attire, herbs, and organic products, cricket will now be added to Karnali’s identity.”

The NPL is scheduled to take place from November 30 to December 21. On Monday, the Karnali team announced its name as ‘Karnali Yaks’ along with its logo. Karnali appointed former captain and coach of the Nepal ‘A’ team, Gyanendra Malla, as head coach and team director. National team all-rounder Sompal Kami is the marquee player for the team.

MP Gautam expressed her best wishes to the Karnali Yaks team, which represents Karnali, and praised them for unveiling their team name, logo, and head coach with great importance.

She also expressed her belief that Nepal will one day play in the Cricket World Cup. “The internal competition in the NPL will be amazing, but no one loses in this competition. Nepal’s cricket sector will win, and one day, Nepal will win the Cricket World Cup,” she said.
