Kathmandu: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Meteorological Forecasting Division, has issued a weather forecast for the period leading up to Vijaya Dashami. The forecast covers the days of Saptami, Ashtami/Navami, and Dashami.
According to the department, light to moderate rainfall is expected in a few areas of Koshi and Madhesh provinces from Saptami to Dashami due to the lingering effects of the monsoon winds. Similarly, a few hilly areas in Bagmati and Gandaki provinces may also experience rainfall, although most of these regions have already seen the monsoon retreat.
Areas where the monsoon has fully withdrawn are expected to have sunny weather. Clear skies are forecasted for the Terai regions of Sudurpaschim, Karnali, Lumbini, Gandaki, and the western parts of Bagmati Province.
Meteorologist Shanti Kandel clarified that while there is a possibility of rain in some areas, it is unlikely to be heavy. “The monsoon still persists in Koshi, so light rain is possible. In the hilly regions of Bagmati and Gandaki, there could be brief showers, but there’s no need to worry about significant rainfall or landslides,” Kandel said. “In areas where the monsoon has retreated, especially in the Terai, the chances of rain are low. However, isolated showers can happen at any time.”
The forecast indicates a mostly pleasant weather for the upcoming festive days, with only minimal rainfall expected in select areas.
