Kathmandu: A meeting of the political parties supporting the government focused on the government’s 100-day performance, recent developments, and a shared stance on national interests and key issues. The meeting, held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, emphasized moving forward with unity on matters of national importance.
The government was commended for its commitment to democratic principles, rule of law, good governance, and effective public service delivery. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli informed the meeting about his upcoming address from Singha Durbar at 3 PM today, where he will outline the government’s achievements over the past 100 days.
Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak provided details about the arrest of former Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane. He explained that Lamichhane’s arrest was based on recommendations from the parliamentary investigation committee regarding irregularities in the cooperative sector. Lekhak criticized recent protests against the judicial process, stating that applying pressure on the judiciary and the government was inappropriate while criminal investigations were ongoing.
The meeting reached an agreement for coalition parties to issue individual statements supporting an impartial judicial investigation and reaffirming their commitment to democratic processes. A follow-up meeting has been scheduled for Friday, October 25, at 3 PM, to finalize a joint position on the government’s progress and future plans, as announced by Shankar Pokharel, General Secretary of the ruling CPN-UML.
Prime Minister Oli stressed the need for unity among coalition partners, reiterating the government’s commitment to democratic values and national integrity. “We fought for democracy, and we accept only democracy,” Oli said, adding, “We reject anarchy and undesirable activities. Our lifelong dedication is to empower the people with sovereignty, and this commitment remains unwavering.”
The meeting was attended by key leaders, including Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Home Minister Lekhak, senior CPN-UML Vice-Chair Ishwar Pokharel, General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, JSP Co-Chair Renukumari Yadav, JSP-N Vice-Chair Rajkishor Yadav, LSP President Mahantha Thakur, Nagarik Unmukti Party President Ranjita Shrestha, and Janamat Party President Dr. CK Raut.
