Kathmandu:
Lumbini Lions has announced Ncell as its title sponsor for the upcoming Nepal Premier League (NPL) season. The partnership was unveiled during an event at the Hilton Kathmandu today (Sunday). The event saw the presence of Lumbini Lions’ brand ambassador and legendary actor Rajesh Hamal, team captain Rohit Paudel, British cricketer Tom Moores, and other international players. This collaboration is expected to bring renewed energy and enthusiasm to the team in the upcoming season.
Lumbini Lions Chairman Ishwar G.C. and Ncell CEO and Managing Director Jabbor Kayumov signed the sponsorship agreement during the ceremony. The team also unveiled its official jersey for the NPL season at the event.
Expressing gratitude for the partnership, Lumbini Lions Chairman Ishwar G.C. said, “We are extremely honored to have Ncell, an international brand and Nepal’s leading private telecom service provider, as our title sponsor. This collaboration will significantly contribute to the development of Nepali cricket. With Ncell’s support, our team will be further strengthened, and together, we aim to elevate Nepali cricket to new heights.”
Sharing his excitement about the partnership, Ncell CEO Jabbor Kayumov stated, “We have always been committed to supporting Nepali cricket and nurturing young talent. This partnership with Lumbini Lions is a testament to our commitment. With our theme, ‘Here for You,’ we are thrilled to collaborate with Lumbini Lions to take Nepali cricket to greater heights. We aspire to contribute to sports development, youth empowerment, and social cohesion.”
In a unique initiative, Ncell Foundation recently announced that for every boundary hit during the NPL, it will donate four educational kits to students in rural and remote areas of Nepal. This gesture aligns with Ncell’s long-standing commitment to community development and empowerment in Nepal.
The first match for Lumbini Lions in the NPL is scheduled for Wednesday. The tournament, which kicked off yesterday, will run until December 21 at the TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. With eight teams participating, this edition of the NPL is expected to gain immense popularity due to its scale and level of competition.
