Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is set to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping for a brief 30-minute courtesy meeting during his official visit to Beijing on Tuesday. According to the schedule released by Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting will take place from 4:00 PM to 4:30 PM (local time).

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Oli will engage in formal discussions with Chinese Premier Li Qiang, followed by the signing of several bilateral agreements. Additionally, PM Oli will meet Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, later in the afternoon.

The Chinese Premier will host a state banquet in honor of Prime Minister Oli at the Great Hall of the People, where the PM will also receive a ceremonial welcome, including a guard of honor by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.

Experts believe that given the limited time allocated for the meeting with President Xi, the discussions will primarily be symbolic and may not delve into substantive issues.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to participate in a reception hosted by the Nepali Embassy in Beijing. He will address a business forum jointly organized by Nepali and Chinese entrepreneurs and deliver a lecture on Nepal-China relations at Peking University.

The Prime Minister will conclude his four-day visit and return to Nepal on Thursday.
