Prime Minister Oli highlighted the deep historical and cultural ties between the peoples of the region, describing them as a “common and splendid heritage.” He reaffirmed Nepal’s commitment to revitalizing SAARC, emphasizing that regional cooperation should continue undeterred by challenges among member states.
The Prime Minister underscored Nepal’s foreign policy of “friendship with all and enmity with none,” asserting that national interests and international cooperation can be balanced through open and forward-looking dialogue. He expressed gratitude to Pakistan for fostering people-to-people connections, particularly through technical assistance. Exchanges at all levels, he noted, are vital for sustaining and enriching bilateral ties.
Ambassador Hashmi lauded Nepal’s dedication to peace, democracy, and regional cooperation, expressing Pakistan’s readiness to deepen multifaceted collaboration. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to hosting the next SAARC Summit and emphasized its willingness to contribute to regional harmony and development in its true spirit.
During the meeting, Ambassador Hashmi also reiterated an invitation from the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, for KP Sharma Oli to visit Pakistan. The invitation was initially extended during their meeting on the sidelines of the 79th UN General Assembly in New York.
Both leaders expressed optimism about further enhancing bilateral relations and strengthening SAARC as a platform for regional integration and cooperation.
