Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called a Cabinet meeting today at 6:30 PM at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar. The meeting is set to discuss key appointments, including promotions in the Nepal Police and the civil administration.
One of the main agendas of the meeting is the promotion of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Janak Bhattarai to the vacant post of Additional Inspector General (AIG). His promotion was recommended on February 23 (Falgun 11) and is now awaiting Cabinet approval.
Similarly, the Cabinet is also expected to decide on the promotion of two secretaries to fill the vacant positions. Senior Joint Secretaries Dr. Sangita Kaushal Mishra, Dr. Vikas Devkota, and Dr. Tanka Barakoti have been recommended for the Health Secretary post. The government will select one of them for the position.
Additionally, a vacant secretary post in the administration sector is also set to be filled. The position became available following the retirement of Tek Narayan Pandey, who is currently in prison in connection with the fake Bhutanese refugee scam. Birendra Kumar Yadav, Madan Bhujel, and Chandrakala Poudel have been shortlisted for the post, with one of them expected to be promoted.
The Cabinet’s decisions will play a crucial role in shaping leadership in Nepal Police and key government institutions.
