Kathmandu: In the final match held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Nepal defeated Palestine 4-0, claiming victory and becoming the Group ‘B’ champion in the WAFF Women’s Championship 2024.
Striker Sabitra Bhandari, along with Rekha Paudel and goalkeeper Geeta Rana, each contributed one goal, leading Nepal to an undefeated streak in the group stage.
On Saturday night, Nepal secured the group title by defeating Palestine, maintaining an unbeaten record. In the group stage, Nepal had previously defeated Syria 4-1 in the first match and Iraq 5-0 in the second match.
Having advanced to the semifinals, Nepal will now face Lebanon, the runner-up of Group A, in their quest to reach the final. In the other semifinal, Jordan and Palestine will compete for a spot in the championship match.
