Kathmandu: Former Supreme Court Justice Prakash Wasti passed away on Friday night at the age of 71 due to a cardiac arrest, according to a family-associated legal professional.

Justice Wasti, originally from Gorkha, died at his residence. Known for his scholarly and academic contributions to the field of law and justice, he authored several research-based legal publications during his lifetime.

He served as a justice of the Supreme Court of Nepal from January 22, 2009, to April 13, 2014.

The family has announced that his final rites will be performed on Sunday. Justice Wasti’s contributions to the legal sector are widely recognized and respected, leaving a lasting legacy in the judiciary of Nepal.
